2º ESO (narrative text and Kahoot instructions)

Narrative text instructions

When you tell somebody a story, you are narrating. A narrative text is a very popular type of document, so in unit 5 we are going to practice writing one where you must explain a crime or mysterious story. The objective is to use some vocabulary from unit 5 (for example: court, hijack, weapon...). In the picture you can see an example from our Students' Book.

Write a narrative text of about 70 words and send it to me before Wednesday, 25th March. Divide it in three clear paragraphs:
Paragraph 1. Mention the incident and when/where it happened
Paragraph 2. Describe the differents events and actions that caused it
Paragraph 3. Conclude the story explaining what happened in the end

Use a dictionary if you need to find a new word, but please, do not use automatic translation websites!!! Remember you can use the general forum if you need my help

Unit 6 Presentation: Kahoot Challenge

Dear students:
Next week we are going to start unit 6: Going green.
In this unit, we are going to practice forming future clauses and conditional sentences, as well as learning vocabulary about means of transport and verbs related to the environment. To see how good you are already at these contents, I have organised a Kahoot challenge so that you can play from your homes but still compete with your classmates.
Go to the Kahoot website (link below) and introduce your class competition code: 0964994
Don't choose naughty/strange nicknames. Your nicknames must be your name and the first letter of your surnames (e.g. Lucía Martínez Córdoba = LucíaMC). You can play as many times as you want before Monday, 23rd March at 10 am. I will keep a record of who participated in the challenge and who didn't and only the students who followed these instructions will get a positive record.
Good luck everyone!

2º ESO (The thief of always)

THE THIEF OF ALWAYS

CHAPTER 1. RICTUS
It was a cold February morning. Fourteen-year-old Harvey hated February. The sky was often grey and it was cold outside.
Harvey’s mother opened his bedroom door.
“Good morning, Harvey! It’s time to get up!”
“Don’t be late for school,” Harvey’s mother said.
“Life is very boring!” Harvey thought. “I hate school!”
Suddenly, a sign appeared on his computer. “You’ve got mail!” Harvey got out of bed and read the e-mail:
Hi, Harvey, are you bored?
Come to my house and we’ll have fun. You can go to school after that.
Uncle Jack

Harvey loved Uncle Jack. He got dressed quickly and then he went to his uncle’s house.
“Hi, Harvey,” said Uncle Jack. “Let’s have fun. There’s a fantastic holiday place near here.”
“I can’t go there,” said Harvey. “I must go to school.”
“You can have a holiday today”, said Uncle Jack. “I called your parents and they said yes”.”
“Really?” asked Harvey. He was surprised. “OK,” he said, happily. “Let’s go!”
Harvey and Uncle Jack walked down the street and soon they came to a wall of thick fog.
“I can’t see anything,” said Harvey.
“It’s OK. I know the way,” replied Uncle Jack.
They walked into the fog and came out in a beautiful garden. It was warm and there were many flowers and trees.
“Welcome, Harvey,” said a short man with a black beard.
“Where am I?” asked Harvey. He was very confused. “Who are you? Where’s Uncle Jack?”
“That wasn’t really your Uncle Jack,” said the man. “It was me! I sent the e-mail, too. I’m Rictus.”
“I don’t understand,” said Harvey. “Why did you transform into my uncle? Why am I here?”
“You were bored,” said Rictus. “I help bored teenagers. They’re never bored at the Holiday House!”

CHAPTER 2. THE HOLIDAY HOUSE
“Why is it spring here?” asked Harvey. “It’s February.”
“No questions!” said Rictus. “That’s the only rule here. Don’t ask about the Holiday House, or the people in it.”
The place had a strange influence on Harvey. He started to forget about the outside world, about school and his parents. The sun was warm, and he was happy.
Rictus took Harvey into the house. An old woman was in the kitchen. There was a wonderful smell of cooking and delicious food on the table. A teenage boy and girl sat at the table. The boy was about 14 and the girl was about 16. She had long red hair and a pretty smile. “Hi. I’m Lulu, and this is Wendell,” she said. “Welcome to the Holiday House!”
“I’ll show you everything this afternoon,” said Wendell. “We’ll go in the special car – it can fly!”

After lunch, Mrs Griffin took Harvey to his room. There was a comfortable bed and a big TV. “This is your room,” said Mrs Griffin. “Relax now. You can explore the house later. But don’t go to the attic because Mr Hood lives there. This is his house, but nobody sees him..”
“Why can’t I go…” Harvey began to ask, but then he remembered the rule of the house: no questions!
Harvey sat on the bed to watch TV, but soon he went to sleep.
After an hour, Harvey woke up and went outside to find Wendell. There were leaves on the trees and it was very hot.
“That’s strange,” thought Harvey. “It’s summer now! The seasons are changing very quickly!”
Suddenly, Wendell appeared in a car in the sky. “Hi, Harvey! Look at me!” he shouted. He landed the car next to the house and Harvey got inside. The car went up to the sky again.
“Wow! A flying car!” said Harvey. “It’s incredible.”
